We've been asked a couple of times recently about CiviCRM smart groups - what they are, how they are created, and how they're used. This short video demonstrates how to set one up:
Some words of caution, before you get carried away with creating smart groups galore on your site:
- Once you create a smart group, don't manually add contacts to it. That can potentially break the group's functionality, and it's not necessary - the site will periodically update the group and add/remove contacts as appropriate.
- Be selective in the smart groups you create - having too many groups can really slow down your site.
