Brookgreen Garden July 1, 2021 by Success Snapshot Working with BackOffice Thinking means working with a team of friends who are great at listening and coming back with an excellent expression of my vision. Empowering a Botanical & Sculpture Garden to Inform and Attract Visitors Who Brookgreen Gardens Organization Type Museums and Gardens About Brookgreen Gardens is an accredited Museum, Zoo, and Aquarium that offers a selection of tours, programs, and exhibits all ages. Solutions CMS, Web Design Technology Drupal Scenario As one of the only places in the United States to have earned accreditation from both the American Alliance of Museums and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Brookgreen Gardens is a unique attraction to people from all of the world. A website with more visual impact to better reflect its beauty and highlight its variety of offerings was needed. Later, with Drupal 7 reaching end of life, an upgrade to Drupal 9 was needed. Solution BackOffice Thinking helped the team at Brookgreen Gardens find the right tools to create an effective digital experience for all visitors. Drupal was chosen as the CMS, as BOT’s “Landing Page & Component” framework in Drupal makes it easy for staff to create pages for events and attractions. The Drupal 9 upgrade allowed better navigation and the incorporation of a searchable plant collection database to draw interest and make it easier for visitors to engage. Success The new website clearly and effectively presents the organization’s primary attractions: Botanical Gardens, Sculpture Collection, History Preserve, and Zoo. The website is now built on Drupal 9 so employees (including horticulturalists) can easily make updates on their own. It includes features such as: Image-forward, visually immersive home page Separate landing page for each primary attraction Searchable and filterable events and programs section Searchable plant collection Improved membership landing page Embedded Blackbaud membership signup forms The new website enhances the overall visual impact of the Garden’s online presence and the upgrade provides a more intuitive back end user experience requiring less onboarding.
